This is a useless post, unless you want to learn how to curse as someone from Buenos Aires (so the next time you go to Argentina you’ll know how to deal)
Most common curses
- Boludo (masc) boluda (fem): pronounced BOH-LOO-DOH/DAH. Literally it means ‘having big balls’, figuratively it means ‘idiot’ or ‘jerk’. At first it was indeed an insult, but most people from Buenos Aires use it in a friendly way. Ex: UH, BOLUDO, NO SABÉS LO QUE ME PASÓ EL OTRO DIA (OH, MAN, YOU’LL NEVER GUESS WHAT HAPPENED TO ME THE OTHER DAY)
- Pelotudo (masc) Pelotuda (fem): pronounced PEH-LOH-TOO-DOH/DAH. Also means ‘having big balls’. If someone from Bs As calls you a ‘pelotudo’ they are probably mad, since, unlike boludo, it IS used as an insult. Ex: QUÉ TE PASA PELOTUDO?! (WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU ASSHOLE?!)
- Conchuda (fem) Conchudo (masc): literally: ‘big cunt’, figuratively, well, ‘cunt’ or ‘bitch’. It’s more commonly heard between women, but men can also call you ‘conchudo’ (it’s very odd, but it happens). Sometimes it can also be used in a friendly way. We REALLY like cursing.
- Forro (masc) forra (fem): ‘forro’ is the informal way of saying ‘condom’. Someone who is a ‘forro’ is an asshole or a jerk. People from Buenos Aires will call you a ‘forro’ if you are doing something they don’t like or find extremely rude. Ex: if you scored with the girl they wanted to bone, you are a forro.
- Enfermo (masc) enferma (fem): Literally it means ‘sick’ or ‘ill’. If someone calls you ‘enfermo’ they are saying you have a mental illness (it’s like asking if you are ‘mad’ or ‘crazy’ but it’s more…hurtful? derogatory?)
- Puta: Whore. See also: Hijo de puta (son of a whore). Funny enough, girls tend to call their friends ‘putas’ all the time in a lovingly and friendly way and not at all with the real connotation of the word.
- Puto: Fag. Boys also call their friends ‘putos’ in a lovingly and friendly way. It doesn’t mean there aren’t people who use it solely to insult someone in a pejorative way.
[I know, we are weird as shit, but bear with me]
Most intricate and complete forms of insult
- Traga Leche: cum-drinker
- Muerde-Almohadas: pillow-bitter
- Sopla-nucas: nape-blower
- Hacete ver: it’s a connotation that you should probably see a psychiatrist. It’s really pejorative and awful and when someone says this to me i’m always at the verge of tears omg
- Chupa Culos: ass-licker. the ‘ruder’ version of ‘chupa medias’ (socks-licker). It is supposed to mean that you are a toady, a boot-licker.
- Andate a Cagar: the equivalent of ‘go fuck yourself’. It literally means ‘go take a shit’
- Chupame la pija: suck my dick. girls tend to say either ‘chupame la concha’ (suck my pussy) or they don’t give a fuck and also claims that you should suck their non-existent dick. I do the latter.
- La re puta que te re mil parió: ok to explain this one I should explain first the use of ‘re’. In Buenos Aires, we use the ‘re’ to emphasize something, like ‘re lindo’ is ‘super cute’. In this case, the ‘re’ is emphasizing ‘whore’ (puta) and ‘gave birth to’ (parió). ‘mil’ means ‘a thousand’ and in this case it’s not used as a number but to emphasize the ‘gave birth’. There’s no way I could translate this in english, so let’s just say it’s an angrier version of ‘la puta que te parió’ (The whore who gave birth to you).
- “Conoces a Marcelo?” “Que Marcelo?” “Agachate y Conocelo”: ok this one is not really an insult but I couldn’t help putting it in the list. It would be roughly translated to something like “Do you know Tim?” “Who’s Tim?” “Bend over and meet him”……and now i’m laughing like a mad person omg sorry aksldjaflasfioqjflñfjas ok lets keep going
